NPCs demonstrate the laws to you

30 March 2026

I suspect that roughly 80% of our world consists of NPCs, or

non-player characters. They are generated humans, holograms

that feel like humans, look like humans, and behave like humans.

They are perfect imitators; they can copy any behavior imaginable.

But they are also there not only to pleasantly entertain the creator

souls in the Matrix game, but also to reinforce the laws of physics.

They demonstrate to you how things work in the Matrix and what

laws govern it.

Death, for example, is a pattern they demonstrate to you so that

you believe what death looks like and what it is.

But they also demonstrate how to catch a cold every year, how

to pay rent, how to find a new partner or job—everything. And

they demonstrate what you have to do to achieve these things, even

if their laws are very old. They are relics of the past, governed by

ancient laws that keep them alive.

The problem for NPCs is that they, too, cannot create anything; they

also depend on the existence of creator souls who create everything

for them. NPCs are programmed entities whose primary goal is to

keep you in the game, disguised in various ways.

NPCs can play any role you are familiar with. Many are good, some

are not; some are loving, others are destructive. However, they are

very obedient and usually adhere to the prevailing opinion that

maintains the Matrix. They don't particularly believe in UFOs, ghosts,

or paranormal phenomena; they believe in mainstream laws and

want to uphold them.

They can read your thoughts. They always know what you are thinking,

what you desire, and what you absolutely dislike.

They serve, without judgment, for entertainment. Just as it should in

a computer game.

NPCs were created by the Matrix architects to help the system run

as autonomously as possible. Understandably, the architects didn't

want to do everything themselves and constantly have to manage it.

So they created the NPCs to allow the Matrix to run automatically

as a self-sufficient habitat.

Yes, perhaps the architects have long since disappeared, as have

the prison guards, because everything has been running automatically

for millennia. And you, you're still playing the game of the Matrix,

according to its predetermined rules.

No one knows if anyone will ever manage to leave the Matrix, if it is

indeed self-sufficient, if it has been running for millennia. And whoever

does manage to leave the Matrix might find that there are no more

guards, no more prison bars, because they have all moved on to build

the next project.

Everything runs by itself.

But perhaps all these guardians exist to continue exploiting the creator

souls with their creative energy, so that they may continue to create

and create. And such a precious wish-granting djinn cannot simply

be let go. It must be held onto at all costs.
