Are you a human? No, you are a soul posing as a human,
having inhabited a human body. You are
a hybrid self, composed of two primary selves.
The human body is a camouflage suit that allows you to move
within the Matrix. This suit is controlled via an avatar.
But what does this control look like?
If you raise your hand and look at it, and command the hand
to form a fist, nothing will happen. This means
your avatar cannot make a fist simply because it wants to. The fist is
made by the player operating the avatar.
It is exactly the same with your breathing. You cannot order
your body to stop breathing. You breathe because the player breathes.
As an avatar, you breathe automatically—or rather, you are being breathed.
Nor can you decide to stop breathing and simply die.
That is not possible.
Your memory—your store of recollections—is not located in your brain, either.
The brain merely conveys memories that originate from the outside. It
serves as a channel or receiver for the player's commands.
You do not remember everything you have done in your life.
It always requires a cue or a prompt. You only recall something
when someone asks you about a memory.
The memory is triggered. It is not "us" doing the remembering.
Even when we make a fist... who is making the fist?
The memory only exists when we are asked about it.
So, what happens when we die? Who is it that truly dies?
